| Hello, everyone. As I'm sure most of you are aware, there has been a severe lack of 'homework' as of late. It has been difficult to devise suitable assignments for those who are already at the top of the food chain. There isn't much left to teach at this stage, and for the most part it's up to the student to improve themselves and to strive to become the best duelist there is!I have been brainstorming for the past week or so, and have come up with an idea which I think can work as a substitute for those in the Blue Dorm. What might it be?
Well, if you've read the title, you'd already know: it's a Tutor program! How does it work? Well, you begin by posting here, saying that you would like to tutor someone from a lower dorm. Easy enough.
But, let's set some guidelines; what constitutes tutoring, or teaching a student? What does constitute tutoring:
-helping them understand more complicated rulings
-why certain cards can do what, and why others can't
-teaching them things like spell speeds
-helping them understand what sorts of cards can combo well together
-showing them how to utilize their available resources (internet and friends) to find support for a certain card they might like
-helping them come up with ideas for decks
-making them step out of their comfort zone for the sake of improving their game, such as making them play rated games with a deck you helped them create until they either win, or understand the mechanics behind it and how it works
-making them watch your duels; monkey see, monkey doThese are only examples, and should be used as a guideline as to how you can and should help a student improve. There are plenty of other ways not covered here; be creative! What does NOT constitute tutoring:
-making a deck for them and telling them to go duel with it
-plopping a Tier 1 deck in their laps and telling them they've learned all you can teach. This game is NOT all about the meta, it's about having fun and playing with the cards you like.
-other obvious things such as this. I will add them if common sense isn't used which makes me list more things that aren't considered tutoringRight now, this project is in beta; it's a test in and of itself, and I don't know how well it will go. A work in progress, you could say. For now, if you are a blue student, and wish to spread your knowledge of the Yu-Gi-Oh game to others; say so here.Leave your request/willingness to become a tutor down to one post, please. If you are in need of tutoring, then express your wishes here, preferably in one post as well. Blue Dorm Members are also allowed to request tutoring if they wish. There is no discrimination in this project.
Do not spam requests to be tutored, if a tutor chooses to take you under their wing, they will PM you.
If you choose to take someone under your wing, PM them to notify them of this. If more than one tutor flocks to a student in need, the student gets to pick who they are tutored by at their discretion. HOW YOU WILL EARN DP FOR THIS:The way that Dueling Points will be accrued from this program is simple. Each week, have your protégé post that you are their tutor, and that they have indeed become better at the game in some aspect because of your guidance.
Such as this:
Let's say you take a student under your wing on a Monday.
Come next Monday, you can tell them to post here if they've learned any valauble information that they will use for the rest of their dueling career. Maybe it would go something like this: - Quote :

Wow, I really have learned a lot about this game since thehero1988 started teaching me what he knew. I can't wait to get retested so I can try for a higher dorm! (: However...
If they have not genuinely learned anything new or useful, they do not have to post for your sake. This program will work on the honor system: it is what you make it.
Also, know that if you try to extort a post out of a student so that you may earn DP, and I become aware of it, chances are it will lead to a very swift and unforgiving ban.
As I've said before, this is a work in progress, and this post may be edited in the future, should any revisions need to be made to the way the system works.

This post in unnecessary. You should have just PM'd Tonto to begin with. No more posts like this; only ones where people offer to be tutors. Questions should be directed to me via PM, and NOT over the thread. Thank you. | |
